The ruins of the Benedictine St. Mary’s Abbey, founded 1055,once the richest abbey in the north of England. These hauntingly elegant remains lie on a steep slope west of York Minster Cathedral in the city of York, North Yorkshire. I can’t think of anything more alluring and romantic than ruins. (Gloria Gaynor song begins playing) THANKS THANKS to everyone who wrote such nice things!!!
