The medieval church of St-Dunstan-in-the-East, London, was bombed during the Blitz and transformed over half a century into a secret romantic overgrown ruin of a park that is rarely discovered, even by Londoners. You can be one of the fortunate few to visit, however, because here are my directions:
From Monument tube station cross to the right and walk a few blocks up Eastcheap before turning right into St Mary’s at Hill, a narrow street which ends at the even narrower, blighted-urban-dystopian appearing StDunstan’s Lane. You will think you are lost forever, but do not fear! Blunder on, brave soldier, and voila! the pathway winds around to St Dunstan’s Hill where the Enchanted Ruins await.
