Wordsworth Street, Penrich, is a market town in the county of Cumbria, England. William Wordsworth (1770-1850) was a major English Romantic poet who, along with Coleridge, helped launch the Romantic Age in English literature with their 1798 joint publication Lyrical Ballads. Wordsworth was Britain’s Poet Laureate from 1843-1850. He attended primary school here in Penrich with Mary Hutchinson, who later became his wife.
