Edward Lear (1812-1888) was an artist, illustrator, author, and poet known primarily for his works of literary nonsense (which uses sensical and nonsensical elements to defy language convention or logical reasoning). Lear’s best known works are A Book of Nonsense, a volume of limericks that helped popularize the form; and the children’s poem The Owl and the Pussycat.  This hotel is located at 28 Seymour Street, near Marble Arch, London.
