Ynys Llanddwyn or Llanddwyn Island is a small tidal island (a tidal island remains attached to the mainland at all but the highest tides) off the west coast of Anglesey, North Wales. (Ynys is Welsh for island.) Snowdonia is seen in the background.
The island is associated with Saint Dwynwen, the Welsh patron saint of lovers and sick animals. Her Saint’s day, January 25, is celebrated with flowers and cards and sentimental Valentine’s Day kinds of things. (Russell Turner 500px)
